Dishwasher tricks to get shining dishes

The dishwasher is one fine piece of technology that has eased our daily life a lot. However, as the time passes by you may have noticed that the dishes coming out of the dishwasher are no longer shiny and sometimes the dishwasher has some funky smell for some unknown reason. We have compiled a list of few tips and tricks that can help you in getting shining dishes as well as in keeping the dishwasher new-like for a long period of time.

1.       Water and detergent mix: For the extra spoiled dishes, you can spray water and detergent mix before loading them in the dishwasher. The detergent will start working on grease etc. immediately and it will make the process much easier for you.

2.       Hydrogen peroxide: This is one good old bacteria-fighting chemical that also helps in cleaning the dishes in the best possible way. 2 ounces of Hydrogen peroxide along with the dishwasher liquid detergent or dish soap will do the trick.

3.       White vinegar: In case you are finding white spots especially on your glassware then the water you are using might be hard. Add white vinegar with the detergent and it will ensure that you get the spotless dishes and glassware every time.

4.       Baking Soda: There are two reasons to add baking soda to your detergent or sprinkling it in the dishwasher. First of all, baking soda reacts with grease and hard stains and help in loosening them while cleaning the dishes. Secondly, if your dishwasher has a funky smell, there might be microbial growth in it. Sprinkling baking soda or spraying a mix of vinegar and baking soda will do wonders with the smell. All you need to do after that is to run a normal cycle to wash it off.

5.       Lemon juice: In case your dishwasher is unable to clean those hard grease stains, spray a mix of hot water and lemon juice on the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. The acid in the lemon will help in the cleaning process and you will get the shining dishes right out of the dishwasher.

6.       No leftovers: Make sure that before you load the dishes in the dishwasher, there is no leftover food on the dishes. Scrap all the leftovers before loading the dishes. The leftovers can ruin the drainage system in the dishwasher and will damage the machine in a very short span of time.

7.       Clean the Dishwasher: Dishwasher is not a machine that will clean itself. You need to take care of it as well. Every once in a while make sure to clean it in the way prescribed in the manual. Every dishwasher has different material and style. It needs proper care so that it can provide clean dishes every time. Do not underestimate the warning labels that come with the dishes as well. If the manufacturer asks to put a particular utensil in top shelf, believe that it is the right place.

Dishwashers have become an important part of our lives. It is important to keep them clean and in good shape so that you do not have to invest in another dishwasher anytime soon.
